TRT World’s environment programme published on 6 July 2026 includes an interview with Jaydip Lakhankiya during the European part of his walk. Hosted by Reagan Des Vignes, the programme also features Anita Mendiratta of UN Tourism and Seamus McCauley of Holiday Extras. Its wider subject is how heat and climate change affect summer travel and outdoor life.

In his interview, Jaydip describes his earlier 182-day journey across India as an attempt to understand rural life, rather than a climate campaign from the outset. He connects what he learned from people in villages with the decision to make this later walk about climate change.

He also discusses studying hospitality and tourism in Malta and learning about climate change in Greece. Walking was a method he already knew through trekking and his India journey. He refers to Gandhi’s example of walking to meet people when explaining that choice.

The programme provides an account of the reasons for the walk in Jaydip’s own interview. It is not a current route bulletin: the European location shown in July is part of the journey’s history. The full programme is linked below, and the journey page carries the latest country and distance.
